ZS8W – Marion Island

Breaking the silence from one of the world’s rarest DXCCs!
After years of waiting, Yuris (YL2GM) is finally QRV as ZS8W from Marion Island, operating between April 21 and May 16, 2025.

📍 Location: Marion Island (part of Prince Edward Islands), currently ranked:
– #11 on Club Log’s DXCC Most Wanted list (April 2025)
– #2 in CW and #3 in Digital

🛳️ The Journey:
Yuris is traveling aboard the S.A. Agulhas II, with arrival scheduled for April 22. Upon arrival, he will join the SANAP (South African National Antarctic Programme) crew, tasked with maintaining low-power HF radios and antennas at remote field huts across the island during a 3-week re-supply mission.

📡 Operating Info:
While Yuris’s primary role is technical support for SANAP, he will be on the air as time permits. Expect activity on multiple bands and modes, with a preference for CW and SSB, plus hopes for RTTY and digital modes. All contacts will be uploaded free to LoTW.
