Welcome to the DARC Local Association Naila (B23)

We are delighted to welcome you to the online presence of the DARC Local Association Naila (B23). Our association has a rich history, founded on January 6, 1964, and has grown into a well-respected member of the Deutscher Amateur Radio Club (DARC). With over 60 years of activity, the association continues to thrive through its members’ dedication to amateur radio.

Celebrating Our 60th Anniversary

In 2024, the association proudly celebrated its 60th anniversary with a special event that was attended by founding member Georg Schade, Udo Wolf (the current president), and the Mayor of Naila, Frank Stumpf. The celebration was a reflection of the remarkable success that the Naila radio operators have achieved over the years, including winning the UKW Contest Trophy multiple times.

Our club has become renowned across Europe, and our success in contests, including the prestigious German Championship of Amateur Radio, has earned us the respect of radio operators worldwide.

Our Achievements

Over the last 20 years, our team has consistently ranked among the top in Germany, with a local station regularly securing the first-place spot in national competitions. These victories span across single, team, and club categories. We also have a track record of impressive wins in international competitions, especially in the 144 MHz frequency band and higher GHz bands, where connections across Europe have become part of our history.

Our competitions involve 24-hour operations where we strive to make as many connections as possible. The number of kilometers each connection covers contributes to the score, and the weather conditions play a major role in signal propagation. Our team uses directional antennas to target unique propagation opportunities, such as thunderstorms and aircraft, to achieve long-range communications.

Our Activities

The Naila local association is known for its team spirit and cooperation, which are key to our ongoing success. The equipment needed for competitions, including antennas, generators, and other devices, is carried up to the mountains and assembled by the team, ensuring that every hand is on deck.

In addition to contesting, we also host regular OV meetings:

  • Meeting Time: Every second Friday of the month at 19:00 in the Kegelbahn club in Froschgrün. We welcome tech enthusiasts and anyone curious about amateur radio.

We also have an active Clubstation (DK0NA) and maintain a reliable relay station DB0NAI, providing further opportunities for radio operation within our local community.

Upcoming Events:

  • Next OV Meeting: 14th March 2025 at the OV Clubhouse.

We encourage anyone interested in amateur radio, from beginners to seasoned operators, to join us. Whether you're looking to learn more about radio technologies, participate in competitions, or simply enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded individuals, Naila's DARC community has something for everyone.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our meetings or events!
