The Ortsverband Nürnberg-Nord (B25) of the Deutscher Amateur-Radio-Club (DARC) has been a cornerstone of the amateur radio community in the Franconian region since its establishment in 1978. With a rich history of technical innovation, community engagement, and a commitment to fostering the amateur radio spirit, the club continues to thrive as a vibrant hub for radio enthusiasts.
A Legacy of Connection and Innovation
Originally formed as a splinter group from the larger Nürnberg club, which boasted over 600 members, the Ortsverband Nürnberg-Nord has grown into a dynamic organization with 77 active members. The club operates two club stations, DK0NF and DL0NF, and manages the relay, digipeater, and beacon station DB0ANN on the Moritzberg. These facilities enable members to engage in a wide range of activities, from local communication to international contests.
Monthly Gatherings and Community Spirit
The club meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the Sportpark Ziegelstein in Nürnberg, providing a regular opportunity for members to connect, share knowledge, and plan future activities. These gatherings are open to both members and visitors, offering a welcoming environment for anyone interested in amateur radio.
Leadership and Vision
At the helm of the Ortsverband Nürnberg-Nord is Birgit Kostka (DG2NAZ), who serves as the club’s chairperson. She is supported by a dedicated team, including Vice Chairman Thomas (DL1THP), Treasurer Peter (DG9NW), and QSL Manager Horst (DL8NBM). Together, they ensure the club remains a vibrant and inclusive space for all radio enthusiasts.
Supporting the Club’s Mission
The club relies on the generosity of its members and supporters to maintain its facilities, particularly the DB0ANN station on the Moritzberg, which incurs significant electricity costs. Donations can be made to the club’s district account, with details available on their website.
QSL Services and Digital Innovation
Horst Ballenberger (DL8NBM) oversees the club’s QSL card services, ensuring members receive confirmation of their radio contacts. The club also encourages members to explore digital platforms like E-QSL for additional contact confirmations.
Join the Community
The Ortsverband Nürnberg-Nord invites amateur radio enthusiasts and curious newcomers to join its monthly meetings and events. Whether you’re an experienced operator or a beginner, the club offers a supportive and inclusive environment to explore the fascinating world of amateur radio.
