VERON Afdeling Hunsingo (A60): Your Amateur Radio Hub in North Groningen

Welcome to VERON Afdeling Hunsingo (A60), an amateur radio chapter located in the northern part of Groningen, specifically within the historic Hunsingo water board area. This region spans roughly between the city of Groningen and the Wadden Sea, largely corresponding to the current municipality of Het Hogeland. Founded on May 8, 1982, the chapter offers a welcoming environment for both licensed radio amateurs and those simply interested in the hobby.

Chapter Meetings

Chapter evenings are held on the last Friday of every month, with the exception of the summer months (June, July, August) and December.

  • Location: Zalencentrum Concordia, Wier 1, 9953PK Baflo.
    • Directions: From the south, take the second exit into Baflo (Heerestraat), then the first left onto Wier, and go under the archway. Concordia will be on your left, with parking available on the right.
  • Atmosphere: These evenings have an informal character, starting with a brief meeting. This is followed by a break and typically an interesting lecture or presentation. If there's no planned lecture, a roundtable discussion is held where members can exchange hobby experiences. Visitors often bring their self-built projects or unique equipment to share and discuss. Coffee, drinks, and small snacks are available.
  • Agenda: For specific dates of upcoming meetings and lecture topics, please consult the chapter's agenda.

House Frequencies

Many members of the Hunsingo chapter can be found on their house frequency: 145.400 MHz FM. Additionally, during the summer months, there's a daily "vacation net" starting at 9:30 PM local time around 7113 kHz LSB (with an alternate frequency of 3636 kHz LSB).

About the Hunsingo Region

Hunsingo was historically one of the three Ommelanden (old Frisian regions). It borders the Wadden Sea to the north, Fivelingo to the east, Westerkwartier and Friesland to the west, and Gorecht to the south. The area is largely flat and agricultural, characterized by many small villages built on artificial dwelling mounds known as "wierden." Pieterburen, famous for its seal rehabilitation center, is a well-known local town. You can find more information about the region on Wikipedia.
