Warrensburg, Missouri | July 18, 2026

Talkpod supported the Warrensburg Area Amateur Radio Club's 2026 Hamfest with an A36plus MAX donation through the Youth Amateur Program.

Held at the Johnson County Fairgrounds, the ARRL-sanctioned gathering gave visitors several ways to explore the hobby. Joe Eisenberg, KØNEB, presented a look at Consumer Electronics Show developments, while a rig-testing station helped operators evaluate used equipment.

The event also highlighted the club's Find an Elmer, Be an Elmer initiative. That emphasis on mentorship matches the purpose of Talkpod's youth support: helping newcomers connect a first radio with the knowledge to use it.

A handheld can be a starting point for learning about operating procedures, local communication, and radio technology. Experienced club members help turn those possibilities into practical skills.

Thank you to WAARCI's organizers, volunteers, vendors, and attendees for supporting the next generation of operators.
