The Southeastern Virginia Regional Hamfest and Swap Meet brought radio enthusiasts to the Knights of Columbus Hall. Hosted by Tidewater Radio Conventions, the ARRL-sanctioned gathering combined equipment trading with technical conversation and community exchange.
Talkpod supported the event through its Youth Amateur Program, helping local organizers introduce radio to younger participants.
Making room for new voices
Starting in amateur radio can mean learning unfamiliar terminology, selecting equipment, and understanding operating procedures. A welcoming club and a patient mentor help make those decisions manageable.
Our youth program supports this practical learning environment by connecting accessible equipment with community involvement. The aim is to help a student's first interest develop into continued participation in the hobby.
Thank you to Carl Clements, W4CAC, the Tidewater Radio Conventions team, and the volunteers who made the hamfest possible.
