North Coast Amateur Radio Club: Connecting Northeast Ohio Through Amateur Radio

The North Coast Amateur Radio Club (NCARC), located in Northeast Ohio, is a vibrant community of amateur radio enthusiasts serving Cuyahoga, Lorain, and Medina counties. With the call sign N8NC, the club has been an important part of the region’s amateur radio landscape since its founding on December 14th, 1985.

Club Mission and Community Engagement
The NCARC is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of amateur radio in the area, with a focus on public service, emergency communications, and community engagement. The club is proud to offer a range of activities and services to its members, including contest participation, digital modes, and VHF/UHF operations. Its repeaters, located at various points in the region, are vital tools for local communication, with frequencies on 145.290, 224.760, and 443.150.

The club hosts a variety of regular events and activities designed to keep members engaged and informed. One such activity is the Wednesday Night Technical Net, which takes place every Wednesday at 7:00 PM EST. Early check-ins are welcomed from 6:45 PM EST. This roundtable discussion focuses on a new technical topic each week, allowing members to stay up to date with the latest developments in amateur radio technology.

Another highlight is the Amateur Radio Newsline, which is aired every Sunday evening at 8:00 PM EST on the 145.290 Repeater in Brunswick, Ohio, during the Information Net. This provides members with the latest news and updates from the amateur radio world.

Meetings and Membership
The NCARC meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM at the Strongsville Branch of the Cuyahoga County Library, located at 18700 Westwood Drive. However, it’s always a good idea to check the club’s website for any changes to the meeting schedule, especially during the months of July, August, and December when meetings may be canceled or rescheduled.

The club is always welcoming new members who are interested in expanding their knowledge of amateur radio and contributing to the club’s activities. Whether you're a seasoned operator or just starting, the NCARC provides a supportive community for all skill levels.

Club Leadership
The NCARC is led by a dedicated team of officers, including President Wayne Alan Harris (NC8F), Vice President Thomas J. Bedocs (K8DMM), Secretary Robert H. Valentino (WB2BTI), and Treasurer Daniel F. Sarama (KB8A). Together, they ensure the club’s continued success and growth.
