Williams County Amateur Radio Association: Serving the Community with Amateur Radio

The Williams County Amateur Radio Association (WCARA) is an amateur radio club based in Bryan, Ohio, that has been serving the local community and advancing the hobby of amateur radio since its establishment on January 19th, 1977. With a focus on public service, emergency communications, and education, WCARA plays a vital role in ensuring that amateur radio remains a reliable and important tool for both hobbyists and the wider community.

Club Mission and Community Involvement
WCARA specializes in a variety of areas, including digital modes, VHF/UHF operations, and emergency services. The club operates repeaters to aid communication and offer training programs for individuals interested in obtaining their entry-level or general amateur radio licenses. The association is also involved in supporting public service efforts, making it a key player in emergency response and community communication.

In addition to its technical focus, WCARA is dedicated to fostering a sense of fellowship and community among its members. The club holds regular meetings on the third Sunday of every month at 6:00 PM at the Williams County Community Offices, located at 1425 East High Street, Bryan, Ohio. These meetings provide an opportunity for members to discuss club activities, share knowledge, and connect with others who share a passion for amateur radio.

Training and Licensing
As part of its commitment to education, WCARA offers entry-level license classes and general or higher license classes. The club is also involved in license test sessions, helping individuals prepare for and pass their exams. This focus on education ensures that the future of amateur radio in the region remains strong.

Club Leadership
The Williams County Amateur Radio Association is led by a dedicated group of officers, including President Stanley DeGroff, Vice President Beau L. Zuver, Secretary Benjamin B. Murray, and Treasurer Alan Andres. Their collective experience and leadership help steer the club’s activities and ensure its continued success.
