Nestled in the rolling landscapes of southeastern Ohio, the Morgan Amateur Radio Club (KD8MC) thrives as a beacon for communication and community in the rural town of McConnelsville. A small but dedicated group, this club welcomes amateur radio enthusiasts of all ages and license classes to explore the expansive world of radio communication.


Bridging the Gap

Founded in 2017, the Morgan Amateur Radio Club may be young, but its impact on the region is profound. The club meets every first Tuesday at 6 PM at the Morgan Emergency Management Agency (EMA) building, located at 60 S Fourth Street. These gatherings serve as a hub for learning, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas.

What sets KD8MC apart is its members' varied interests. From contest operations and digital modes to DXing and public service initiatives, the club engages in a range of activities to accommodate its members' unique passions. This diversity fosters a dynamic environment where members can grow individually while contributing collectively to the club’s mission.


Education and Mentorship

The Morgan Amateur Radio Club is deeply committed to education. It offers:

  • Entry-Level License Classes to help new operators join the airwaves.
  • General and Higher License Classes for advanced operators looking to expand their capabilities.
  • Mentorship Opportunities, ensuring new members receive the support they need to thrive in the amateur radio community.

A Team with a Vision

Under the leadership of President Russell Wilson (KD8RW) and a dedicated team of officers, including Vice President Stephen Wilson (KT8SW), Treasurer Jedidiah M. Wilson (KE8GEB), and Secretary Timothy M. Wilson (KE8EGE), the club continues to grow in strength and spirit. Editor Stephen K. Weaver (KF7LLN) ensures that members stay informed with timely newsletters.


Open to All

With a current membership of 16, including 14 licensed operators, the club warmly welcomes newcomers. Whether you're a seasoned operator or a curious beginner, the Morgan Amateur Radio Club provides a space to learn, share, and connect.
