Grumman Amateur Radio Club: A Legacy of Innovation and Community Service

The Grumman Amateur Radio Club (GARC), call sign WA2LQO, has proudly served Long Island’s amateur radio enthusiasts since its affiliation in December 1944. Meeting every third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 PM at Ellsworth Allen Park in Farmingdale, NY, GARC brings together a vibrant community focused on digital modes, DXing, public service, and emergency communications.

As a club with deep roots in the region, GARC offers an array of resources, including mentoring, repeater access, and license testing sessions. Known for its dedication to both amateur radio and public service, the club supports aspiring and seasoned operators alike, with a strong commitment to community engagement. The club also maintains an informative newsletter, edited by Robert I. Wexelbaum (W2ILP), which keeps members updated on the latest in amateur radio technology and club activities.

Under the leadership of President Edward Gellender (WB2EAV), GARC continues to foster a collaborative environment where knowledge and innovation thrive. With a membership of 50 licensed amateurs, 40 of whom are ARRL members, GARC exemplifies a tradition of excellence and a commitment to the values of amateur radio.
