Welcome to the Dreieich Local Chapter (F29) of the Deutscher Amateur Radio Club e.V. (DARC), a vibrant community of radio enthusiasts located in Dreieich, a charming town in the Offenbach district of Hessen, south of Frankfurt am Main.
The Dreieich chapter has a rich history, having been established on January 17, 1964, in the then city of Sprendlingen. With a dedicated membership, F29 is an active hub for amateur radio operators in the region. The chapter’s current home is situated in the Bürgertreff Götzenhain, where a well-equipped club room provides members with everything they need for their radio activities.
The club operates regular events, such as their monthly OV Abende, which occur on the first Wednesday of every month at 8:00 PM. During these meetings, members discuss the latest developments in amateur radio, share experiences, and work on collaborative projects. The OV Fieldday is another exciting event, with the next one scheduled for September 21, 2024, at Grube Anna in Götzenhain, starting at 12:30 PM.
The Dreieich chapter is also involved in various educational activities. Their ongoing "Technik Klasse A" course covers key topics related to amateur radio technology and equipment. Recent lessons have included topics such as oscillators and HF amplifiers, with hands-on projects to deepen the understanding of the material.
An exciting aspect of F29’s work is their commitment to sharing the joys of amateur radio with others. The chapter organizes projects aimed at introducing new participants to the hobby, such as Foxoring (radio direction finding) and hands-on activities where members assemble and operate simple circuits or full kits under professional guidance. These initiatives aim to spark interest and deepen the understanding of amateur radio for both newcomers and experienced operators alike.
Additionally, the Dreieich chapter proudly operates several radio relays, including the DB0FFW relay in Götzenhain, which became operational in August 2018. This relay serves as an important emergency communication tool, ensuring reliable communication within the Dreieich region, especially in case of power outages.
