Celebrating 50 Years: Tryon Amateur Radio Club

The Tryon Amateur Radio Club (Tryon ARC), with call sign K2JJI, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023, marking five decades of service to the amateur radio community in Fulton County, New York. Established in 1976, the club operates with a focus on public service, emergency communications, and amateur radio education. Members gather monthly at the Emergency Operations Center in Johnstown, NY, where they coordinate activities, conduct ARRL license testing, and foster a welcoming environment for newcomers and seasoned operators alike.

In addition to hosting a Tuesday ARES/RACES Net, Tryon ARC engages in contesting, operates a repeater, and supports an Echolink Node (#845553), extending its reach to connect operators locally and beyond. With comprehensive offerings like entry-level and advanced license classes, test sessions, and mentoring, the club is dedicated to promoting knowledge and skill development in amateur radio.

Led by President Donald W. Gifford (WA2EZ), along with Vice President Stephen R. Kuck (K2ALS) and Treasurer/Secretary Howard R. Selwitz (KD2ABK), Tryon ARC is an active contributor to the amateur radio landscape. For more details on upcoming events and their rich history, visit their website at TryonARC.org.
