DXpedition Update – May 23:

Morten has successfully arrived in the mountainous northwest of Eswatini and is now QRV as 3DA0GY. His initial antenna setup was a race against the sunset on arrival day, and while evening tuning was tricky, by Friday morning (May 23) the SWR across most bands looked good — except for 80 meters, which continues to be problematic.

To make matters more complicated, a solar flare reported by NOAA may further impact conditions on the low bands. If propagation fails to cooperate, Morten is prepared to make the most of his surroundings — noting the beautiful scenery and “very good beer” at the local hotel.

Operating style: Holiday-style, relaxed, but with plans to be active as conditions allow — especially if the bands improve for WPX weekend.
