A premium two way radio

I'll admit, I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I got this radio. The product page was a bit confusing as to whether there were 2 walkie talkies or just 1 in the package. There is definitely just one. So if you are looking for regular walkie talkies that work out of the box, you'll want to look elsewhere. In a way, I think even calling it a walkie talkie is a bit misleading, because it does so much more than a traditional walkie talkie.

I think the more accurate part of the description is the "Long Range Two Way Radio". All of the functionality is geared towards this side of things. This would of course include walkie talkie functionality, but you need to set it up manually to communicate with another device, which would also need to be setup manually.

I got a lot more than I bargained for with this radio, and I'll be honest, the advanced features are beyond my current undertsanding, and I am testing it out fairly conservatively as I learn more about the various laws in place regulating radios. That being said, this is clearly a high quality device with lots of functionality. My rating is based on that. I look forward to learning more so I can take advantage of more of this radio's features.

Great radio, even for twice the money! These walkie talkies offer impressive performance for short-range, two-way communication and are perfect for those looking for affordable, reliable equipment. For the price, they are absolutely worth the investment, especially since they’re easy to replace if damaged or broken. Unlike high-end models that can be costly to repair or replace, these radios strike a balance between quality and affordability.

While I’m still learning to use all the features, I’ve found them packed with functionality that more experienced users would appreciate, and beginners can grow into. It might take some time to explore and master everything they offer, but the versatility and capabilities they provide make it worth the effort. Overall, these are fantastic radios, whether for casual users or those looking for budget-friendly, high-performing communication tools!

One of the best for the price!

This is a fantastic hand held radio. It has good range, a large battery and a good assortment of accessories. The channels were easy to program and name. The frequency scan feature works great as well. Had a small issue with the radio and customer service was quick to respond to my request and resolved the issue. This newer version of the A36 plus max has been reviewed on youtube and is proven to be clean transmitting radio, no harmonized/spurious transmissions like alot of the other radios for sale here ie. baofang. Great radio for the price.

Talkpod is listening and evolving

This model is a vast improvement over the original Talkpods when they first appeared a couple years ago. I get 5/9 into my local repeaters with an after market antenna. Most interestingly, there is a new open source program, OpenRTX, for people who like to tinker and customize their radios. Can't go wrong with this color screen, and a green or clear body.
