Nestled in the vibrant hub of Round Rock, Texas, the Williamson County Amateur Radio Club (WCARC) operates under the proud call sign N5TT. Since its establishment in 1979, WCARC has grown into one of the largest amateur radio clubs in Texas, uniting enthusiasts under a shared passion for the art and science of communication.
A Club of Many Voices
With an active membership of 140, WCARC represents a diverse spectrum of amateur radio interests. From newcomers exploring the basics of Technician-level projects to seasoned operators chasing distant signals in the world of DXing, the club offers something for everyone. Monthly meetings, often attended by over 100 members, highlight its vibrant community spirit and commitment to fostering growth in amateur radio.
Guiding the Next Generation
True to the spirit of Elmering—mentorship in the amateur radio community—WCARC excels in guiding new operators. The club offers classes for all license levels, as well as Morse code training, ensuring every member has the resources to excel. Whether troubleshooting a technical issue or planning a complex project, WCARC members are always ready to lend a helping hand.
Strong Signals Across the County
The club operates two linked repeaters—146.64 and 145.45 MHz, with a PL of 162.2—providing excellent coverage across Williamson County. These repeaters serve as vital communication links for both day-to-day activities and emergency services, reinforcing the club's commitment to public service.
Meetings That Connect
On the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM, WCARC members gather at the Jester Annex in Round Rock for their monthly meeting. To accommodate members near and far, the club also offers a Zoom option, ensuring that everyone can participate regardless of location.
