Upshur Area Amateur Radio Club: A Community on the Airwaves

Tucked within the heart of Upshur County, Texas, the Upshur Area Amateur Radio Club (UAARC) stands as a beacon of connectivity and camaraderie for radio enthusiasts in the region. Operating under the call sign K5UAR, this club exemplifies the spirit of amateur radio—fostering communication, supporting public service, and inspiring exploration of the airwaves.

A Hub for Community Engagement

Founded in 2021, UAARC has rapidly grown to include 41 dedicated members, with 40 licensed amateur operators. This vibrant group meets monthly to share their passion and expand their knowledge. Meetings take place on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Upshur Rural Electric Cooperative. It’s an open forum where ideas flow freely, and newcomers are warmly welcomed.

Fostering Amateur Radio Excellence

UAARC’s mission extends beyond casual radio operation. Through their mentorship programs, they guide new operators and provide seasoned members with advanced learning opportunities. The club offers a newsletter to keep members informed about local activities, technical insights, and the latest developments in the amateur radio world.

The club’s repeater system serves as a vital tool for communication, ensuring that members remain connected both during leisurely operations and emergency scenarios. UAARC takes pride in its ability to assist the community through reliable communication during critical times.
