Waves Over Wine Country: Radio Persistence in Baix Penedès

EL VENDRELL, TARRAGONA – Amidst the vineyards and coastlines of Catalonia’s Baix Penedès, one voice remains quietly consistent: that of Vicente José Gómez Oviedo (EA3GP), president of the URE section EA3RKT. From a modest postal base in El Vendrell, Vicente directs a section defined less by numbers than by resilience, clarity, and niche dedication.

Vicente is not one for noise. His style is personal, his QSL policy intimate—“If you want a paper card, just email me.” That restraint hides a determined devotion to radio’s fundamentals. Known also by special callsigns EH3GP and AM390GP, he maintains active presence especially on 50 MHz, the oft-overlooked magic band for those in the know.

Like the quiet fermentation of the region’s wines, this club’s activity isn’t loud—but it is lasting.
