The VP2VI team has been incredibly active from Anegada Island, British Virgin Islands (BVI), with over 50,000 QSOs now logged!

Recent Highlights:

  • The team has made significant progress with their antenna setup, including beverage antennas for 160m, which were set up despite challenging terrain.

  • Andree, DL8LAS reported that the antenna setup process in the area has been difficult, but they are overcoming the challenges.

  • New Antennas: As of April 12, they deployed the 80/160m transmit antennas, 60m Inverted-V, and their fifth radio setup.

  • They are operating simultaneously on multiple bands, and the signals have been notably strong, with reports coming in from various operators confirming solid contacts on 80m and 160m.

Operational Details:

  • The team has been active on 80m, 160m, 60m, and other bands, including 50MHz where they made several QSOs.

  • They’ve been working on improving signal isolation by adding dedicated RX antennas for better signal reception.

  • The team had a brief visit to 50MHz, where they made 40 QSOs, mostly with ZL3 stations.

Team Setup and Logistics:

  • The team arrived on Anegada Island after a flight from St. Thomas, and their gear made it without issue.

  • Equipment Details: The team has brought extensive antenna gear, including Spiderbeam and DX Commander antennas, along with fiberglass masts and other essential hardware for optimal performance.

Upcoming Plans:

  • The team will continue to operate until April 27, 2025, and plans include further antenna improvements with the 160-80-60m antenna and the deployment of four beverage antennas.
