Update: April 13, 2025
Amateur radio operator Anaxi (J5BGW) is currently on Rubane Island, located in the AF-020 IOTA (Islands on the Air) group, in Guinea Bissau. Anaxi is operating low power using wire antennas during his holiday stay on the island, which will last until April 23, 2025.
Challenging Operating Conditions
The location of Anaxi's operating station on the island presents a number of challenges. His QTH is south-facing, and much of the island is densely covered with trees, making signal propagation difficult. Despite these obstacles, Anaxi has been active on 20m FT8 mode, a popular digital mode used for low-power operations.
Future Plans
Anaxi plans to continue his operation until April 23, and with the island's challenging conditions, he is focusing on low-power operations to make contacts with other ham operators.
QSL Information:
Operators are encouraged to listen on 20m FT8 for potential opportunities to make a contact with J5BGW/P while he remains active from Rubane Island.
Note: Stay tuned for any further updates on this operation!
