VERON A48 Zutphen: Your Hub for Amateur Radio in Eefde

Eefde, NetherlandsVERON Afdeling 48 Zutphen is an active amateur radio chapter serving the region. With its club call sign PI4ZUT, the chapter offers regular club evenings, organizes field days, and provides various resources for its members and interested newcomers.

Club Evenings

Starting with the 2024 season, club evenings are now held at Het Hart in Eefde.

  • Location: Het Hart Eefde, Jolinkweg 2, 7211 DM Eefde.
  • Next Meeting: The next club evening is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Doors open at 7:00 PM, and the meeting officially begins at 7:30 PM. (Note: There are no meetings in July and August).
  • Topics: The next meeting will feature a lecture by Klaas, PH0VOS, and an "Eyeball QSO's" session (in-person discussions).
  • Bar Service: Klaas PH0VOS leads the bar team, supported by Peter PA3EQN, Rob PH1RAM, and Ian PH1AC, with Peter PA2PKZ and Frans PA5CA as backups. All bar staff hold an IVA certificate for serving alcohol.

Field Days 2025

The annual field days are set for June 20, 21, and 22, 2025.

  • Schedule: Setup begins on Friday, June 20, after 12:00 PM, and activities conclude on Sunday, June 22. Note that it's no longer possible to arrive on June 19th.
  • Activities: Preparations are underway for a successful event, with plans to set up various antenna configurations for a Whisper experiment. Active stations are also welcome.
  • Meals: A communal BBQ with salads and bread will be held on Saturday. A vegetarian option will also be available.
  • Registration: Members are urged to submit their completed field day registration forms before June 13, 2025.

PI3ZUT Repeater

The PI3ZUT repeater is currently operational again, though it is not accessible via Echolink at this time.

Radio Rounds

The chapter organizes several radio rounds:

  • Zutphen Round Leaders: The team for the Tuesday evening Zutphen round is looking for reinforcements. If you're interested in being a round leader, please contact the board at bestuur@pi4zut.nl.
  • Rondeleider (v3) Program: A program designed for efficient, paperless round leading is available for download.

Other Activities & News

  • JOTA Team: A JOTA (Jamboree On The Air) team is forming to be present at the Jan van Riebeeck scouting group in Eefde during the third weekend of October. Team members include Frans PA5CA, Jan PE0MVJ, Peter PE1NMR, Bart PD1BCL, Stef PG9S, and Peter PA2PKZ.
  • PI4ZUT Zutphen Award: The PI4ZUT Zutphen Award action has commenced. Details can be found on the PI4ZUT QRZ.com page.
  • HAM ALERT Tip: The chapter recommends using HAM ALERT to receive notifications when specific stations are on the air.
  • Donations: The chapter encourages voluntary contributions to support the common fund, both through a "digital hat" and a physical collection during events.
  • Amateur Exam Information: Aad PA0XAB has provided valuable information for those preparing for the amateur radio exam.
