Tune In to the Daily Buzz: Exploring the Ontario Amateur Radio Service (ONTARS)

Calling all ham radio operators in Ontario and beyond! The Ontario Amateur Radio Service (ONTARS) offers a unique way to connect and share information on the airwaves.

What is ONTARS?

ONTARS isn't a traditional club with meetings or locations. Instead, it functions as a daily net (network) on the 3.755 MHz frequency. This means radio operators can check in, chat, and share updates every day.

Why Participate in the ONTARS Net?

  • Stay Connected: The daily net offers a consistent way to connect with fellow ham radio operators across Ontario and even beyond.
  • Share Information: Exchange news, ask questions, and get updates relevant to the ham radio community.
  • Practice Your Skills: Regularly using your radio on the net helps you stay sharp and maintain your communication abilities.
  • Learn from Others: Interact with experienced operators and gain valuable insights into the world of ham radio.

How to Join the ONTARS Net

  • Tune In: Every day from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, listen to the 3.755 MHz frequency. You'll likely hear other operators checking in and participating in the net.
  • Follow Net Etiquette: Listen before transmitting, identify yourself with your call sign, and be respectful of other participants.
  • Introduce Yourself: Once you're comfortable, feel free to introduce yourself and share your location or interests.
