The Suffolk County Radio Club, call sign W2DQ, stands as Long Island's oldest amateur radio club, proudly operating since 1947. With a focus on both preserving the heritage and advancing the future of amateur radio, the club brings together enthusiasts from across Suffolk County and beyond. The club meets on the fourth Monday of each month at the Longwood Youth Sports Association in East Yaphank, NY, fostering an environment of camaraderie, education, and public service.
The club's activities span contests, DX operations, digital modes, and emergency services, supported by their own repeater system. With regular license test sessions and mentorship programs, Suffolk County Radio Club plays an integral role in nurturing new talent and maintaining strong community connections.
Led by President Richard R. Geraci (KD2NJA), the club’s team includes Vice President Ed Wilson (N2XDD), Treasurer Brian O. Bresocnik (NG2S), and Secretary Nicole M. Adams (KE2BUF). For more details, visit their website at suffolkcountyradioclub.org.
