The Southern Pennsylvania Amateur Radio Club (SPARC), founded in 1990, is an established and thriving amateur radio community located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. SPARC offers a wide range of activities and resources for both seasoned amateur radio operators and newcomers alike, making it an essential part of the local radio scene.
Meeting Times and Activities
SPARC holds regular meetings every 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM. The club’s meetings are held at their clubhouse located at 1715 Brenneman Rd, Mount Joy, PA. The club offers a variety of programs and activities, including:
- 1st Tuesday: Testing night (for those wishing to take their amateur radio exams).
- 2nd Tuesday: Board of Directors meeting.
- 3rd Tuesday: Open Elmer night, where experienced members help guide newcomers.

Clubhouse and Equipment
SPARC has a newly constructed clubhouse, equipped with 6 operating positions, heating, and air conditioning. The clubhouse is stocked with club-owned radios and antennas for HF, VHF, and UHF bands, making it an ideal place for both casual operators and more serious hobbyists to gather and operate.
Educational Support and Licensing
The club is highly supportive of individuals seeking to earn their amateur radio licenses. SPARC offers entry-level license classes, as well as general or higher license classes for those looking to advance their knowledge and skills. The club also holds license test sessions, which are available to both members and the public. Mentoring is available to help newcomers get started and gain confidence in their operating abilities.
