Kia ora! Welcome to the page of ZL6ANZAC, the Special Event Callsign commemorating ANZAC Day. We operate from the Wrights Hill Fortress in Wellington (Te-Whanganui-a-Tara), New Zealand (Aotearoa).
What is ANZAC Day? ANZAC Day, observed on April 25th, is a National Day of Remembrance in Australia and New Zealand. It honors the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) soldiers who fought in Gallipoli during World War I, and all those who served in war and peacekeeping operations. The day marks the first landing of ANZAC troops on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915.
Wrights Hill Fortress The Wrights Hill Fortress, built during World War Two, is located in Karori, Wellington. It features an underground network of tunnels, operation rooms, and gun emplacements. We are privileged to operate from the Fortress on ANZAC Day, in honor of the ANZACs. Special thanks to the Wrights Hill Fortress team for their support. Learn more about the Fortress at the Wrights Hill Fortress website.
