Repost: E6SP – Niue

Gavin, ZL3GAV, provides an update on his Niue DXpedition. Due to accommodation issues, the expedition has been rescheduled for August 2025. He mentioned the importance of operating from the same noise-free QTH as 2024 to avoid the noise problems that other DXers have encountered.

Previously, Gavin reported having a successful operation in April 2024 despite some challenges, including equipment malfunctions and internet connectivity issues. Despite these setbacks, over 11 days, he logged 3,642 QSOs across various modes, including FT8, FT4, SSB, and SSTV, working stations from 160m to 6m.

Gavin also reflected on the challenges of operating from such a remote location, including equipment limitations and the need for a better setup in the future, especially when using digital modes. His operation was supported by a portable 4G router, and the livestream and log updates to ClubLog, LoTW, and QRZ worked well.

The Niue operation was an enriching experience, and Gavin is grateful for the support he received from the ham radio community. He plans to return to Niue in 2025.
