The MM0UKI team—G0VJG, G4PVM, and M0SDV—has completed their DXpedition to the Flannan Isles (EU-118), going QRT at 1200Z on April 29, 2025, with approximately 3,000 QSOs logged. After some physically demanding hauling and careful coordination with their skipper, the team safely returned to the mainland.
Originally expected to stay until May 1, worsening weather forced an early departure. Despite these challenges, the team managed operations on SSB, CW, and FT8 across 40–10 meters, using two stations once set up. The third station was planned but ultimately not deployed due to severe wind and rain.
Notable moments:
-
First QSOs began shortly after arrival on April 27.
-
Conditions were harsh: gale-force winds, wet gear, and logistical challenges moving equipment from the landing stage.
-
Activity included FT8 on multiple bands: 7.056, 10.141, 14.084, 18.096, 21.091, 24.923, 28.091, and 50.313 MHz.
This rare IOTA (last activated in 2010 by MS0INT) saw a strong response from chasers worldwide, especially considering the brief window and poor weather. Logs will be uploaded to Club Log once fully processed.
Congratulations to all who managed a contact!
