Parma Radio Club: A Legacy of Learning and Connection

Parma Radio Club: A Legacy of Learning and Connection

For over half a century, the Parma Radio Club (PRC) has been a cornerstone of amateur radio in Northeast Ohio. Established in 1968, PRC operates under the call sign W8PRC and continues to live up to its reputation as "a great place to grow."

Expanding Technical Horizons

PRC's mission is clear: to enhance technical knowledge among its members while fostering a passion for amateur radio. Monthly meetings, held at the Busch Community Room in Parma, are a hub for engaging programs, interactive discussions, and technical exploration.

PRC’s regular Tuesday night net at 9 PM on the 145.410 FM repeater provides a space for members to connect, share updates, and stay engaged with the amateur radio community.

Leadership and Membership

The club’s leadership reflects its commitment to growth and collaboration. Secretary and Editor Hal Rogers (K8CMD), along with Treasurer Thomas M. Pechnik (AC8EH), ensure the club's operations run smoothly. With 35 members, including 26 ARRL members, PRC represents a diverse and dedicated group of radio enthusiasts.

Activities and Opportunities

PRC offers much more than regular meetings:

  • Mentorship Programs: Supporting newcomers and advancing the skills of experienced operators.
  • Contests and Digital Modes: Encouraging participation in a variety of amateur radio specialties.
  • Community Engagement: Leveraging radio as a tool for public service and emergency communication.

Whether it's exploring digital modes, discussing DX techniques, or participating in public service activities, PRC offers something for everyone.
