Panhandle Amateur Radio Club: Connecting Communities Across the Texas Panhandle

Nestled in the heart of the Texas Panhandle, the Panhandle Amateur Radio Club (PARC) has been a cornerstone of amateur radio activity since its founding in 1953. For over seven decades, this vibrant community of radio operators has been connecting individuals, fostering technical skills, and offering essential services to the region.

A Tradition of Service and Fellowship

At PARC, every first Saturday of the month, the air is filled with excitement as members gather at 1900 Line Ave, Amarillo, TX for their monthly meetings. These sessions kick off with coffee and fellowship at 9:00 AM, followed by the official meeting at 9:30 AM. It's a time not only for technical discussion but also for bonding over a shared passion—amateur radio.

The club also offers a Hamfest, where members and guests come together to celebrate all things radio, from equipment swaps to demonstrations. A License Test Session is hosted regularly, ensuring that the next generation of amateur radio enthusiasts continues to grow.

Expanding the Horizons of Radio Outreach

A key feature of the Panhandle ARC is its Mobile Operations Van, which is available for demonstrations to youth clubs, school groups, and other organizations. The van brings the world of amateur radio to the younger generation, showcasing the magic of radio communications and inspiring the future of the hobby.

Whether you're a school, a youth group, or an enthusiast simply curious about amateur radio, the PARC Mobile Operations Van is a perfect introduction. More details on this resource can be found here.

A Hub for Public Service and Emergency Communications

Beyond the fun and fellowship, the Panhandle ARC plays a critical role in public service and emergency communications. The club’s contributions to local emergency preparedness are invaluable, ensuring that when disaster strikes, the region’s ham operators are ready to respond.

In addition to their emergency capabilities, PARC also specializes in VHF/UHF communications, connecting members across the vast Panhandle area. Their repeaters provide reliable coverage, helping to ensure that local amateur radio operators stay in touch with each other and their communities.
