Nestled in the heart of Furtwangen, the Ortsverband Furtwangen (A18) of the Deutscher Amateur-Radio-Club e.V. (DARC) has been a thriving center for amateur radio enthusiasts since its foundation in 1956. With a strong technical focus, regular club activities, and an emphasis on education and youth engagement, A18 continues to foster a dynamic community of radio operators.


Regular Club Meetings: OV-Abende & DL0FIS Gatherings

The OV-Abend (club evening) is a key event for A18 members, offering an opportunity to discuss technical projects, exchange knowledge, and build camaraderie.

One of A18’s proudest moments was its involvement in an educational radio contact between students of the Technical High School Donaueschingen and the International Space Station (ISS). This initiative demonstrated the power of amateur radio in scientific education.

The A18 club operates and maintains several relay stations crucial for local, regional, and international amateur radio communications.

Every Sunday at 9:00 MEZ, A18 transmits the Südbaden-Rundspruch (Southern Baden News Broadcast) from the DLØFIS Clubstation. This broadcast delivers regional and international updates for amateur radio operators.

Founded on August 18, 1956, the Ortsverband Furtwangen (A18) has grown into a hub for radio enthusiasts from Furtwangen, St. Georgen, Triberg, Schönwald, and beyond.

With 77 active members, the club continues to push the boundaries of radio technology, mentor young operators, and contribute to the growth of amateur radio in Germany.
