Ortsverband C03 - Garmisch-Partenkirchen: A Glimpse into Our History

Early Beginnings

After the collapse of 1945, the Allied forces declared a general "radio silence" across Germany. Despite this, many German amateurs continued their activities without licenses, using the DA prefix for their calls or creating fictitious ones.

In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, two passionate radio enthusiasts couldn't be deterred from their love of communication. Even though their equipment had been confiscated once, they seized every opportunity to transmit, operating under the callsigns OE 7 M (ax) and OE 7 M (oritz) to chat via the airwaves.

Rebirth and Legal Recognition

When the occupying forces and the postal authorities allowed radio operations again under licensed conditions, Fritz Kühne (DL6KS) and Hans Scholter (DL6KV) were the first to legally pick up their microphones and key. Their hard work and passion paved the way for the founding of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Ortsverband in the summer of 1950.

Founding of the Ortsverband

The official founding documents are no longer available in the DARC archives, but the Ortsverband is first mentioned in the DL-QTC club newsletter, dated June 1, 1950, as part of the DARC Bayern organizational plan, with Fritz Kühne listed as the chairman.

Today, the Ortsverband Garmisch-Partenkirchen (C03) stands as a testament to the dedication and spirit of these early pioneers, continuing to thrive in the community they started so many decades ago.
