Ortsverband Blieskastel (Q17) - A Legacy of Community and Radio Enthusiasm

Welcome to Ortsverband Blieskastel (Q17), a proud member of the Deutscher Amateur Radio Club (DARC). Established in 1981, this club has continued to grow and foster a vibrant community for amateur radio enthusiasts.

Our Passion for Amateur Radio

The Q17 community thrives on its passion for amateur radio. Regular meetings, also known as OV Abende, are held every first Friday of the month, where members come together to exchange ideas, experiences, and expertise. Whether it's discussing new developments in radio technology or just having a good time, the Q17 crew enjoys every aspect of amateur radio.

Annual Activities and Special Events

The club takes pride in its annual events, including Field Days, Christmas parties, and other social gatherings. Events such as Grilling under the Antenna and Parks on the Air (POTA) provide a great chance to engage with the community in both technical and social environments.

For example, the upcoming POTA activation on April 12, 2025 in Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve will be a fantastic opportunity for members and guests to enjoy amateur radio in the great outdoors. It’s an event open to everyone, so mark your calendars for 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM (MESZ)!

Celebrating 40+ Years of Community and Innovation

In 2021, the Q17 club celebrated 40 years of activity, with many accomplishments to reflect upon. A key highlight of this celebration was the Gollenstein Diplom, a unique achievement for those who worked with the club's station and local operators.

A Warm Welcome to New Members

The Q17 club has always been open to new members, with the latest addition being Melanie Steinberger (DL1IGB), who is warmly welcomed into the fold. It's members like her who help bring new energy and passion to the club!

Leadership and Progress

Under the leadership of Christiane Rester (DL3CR), the club has expanded its reach, both locally and nationally. Udo Gentes (DL4VCC) continues to serve as the deputy chair, while Martin Willert (DO2IO) has recently been appointed as QSL Manager.

The OV Q17 is also looking forward to future projects, such as expanding their equipment and continuing to build strong relationships with other amateur radio clubs.

Join Us!

Whether you are an experienced operator or a newcomer eager to explore the world of amateur radio, Q17 welcomes everyone to come to OV Abende, participate in activities, and enjoy the spirit of community. The next meeting will take place on April 3, 2025 at 19:00 at Landhaus am Kleinen Sägeweiher in Kirkel.
