Description
Nye County Emergency Communications is a volunteer group that supports the Sheriff's Office of Nye County, the Director of Emergency Services, and the Director of IT for Nye County. The group plays a critical role in the ARES/RACES operations of Nye County, providing emergency communications during training exercises and real emergency situations.
Key activities include:
- Participation in Emergency Training Exercises
- Providing additional communications support during emergencies
- ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certification for all members
- Many members are also trained in C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team)
The group offers free Amateur Radio License Exams for all three license classes (Technician, General, and Extra) by reservation on the third Saturday of the month at the Nye County Emergency Operations Center.
