Mustang Amateur Radio Club: Empowering Communication and Community

Nestled in the heart of Mustang, Oklahoma, the Mustang Amateur Radio Club (MARC) is a vibrant community of amateur radio enthusiasts dedicated to fostering the spirit of communication, education, and public service. Founded in 2022, the club has quickly grown into a dynamic group of 14 members, with a shared commitment to enhancing their skills and serving the greater Mustang community through amateur radio.

A Welcoming Environment for All

The Mustang Amateur Radio Club offers a welcoming environment for individuals of all experience levels. Whether you're a seasoned operator or just starting out, the club provides a space where members can hone their skills, participate in general interest activities, and engage in public service communications. One of the club's core specialties is its focus on VHF/UHF communications, which play a key role in both everyday operations and emergency services.

Meetings and Community Engagement

MARC members gather on the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM at the Mustang Community Center, offering both a chance to connect with like-minded individuals and discuss the latest developments in the world of amateur radio. These monthly meetings serve as an opportunity to collaborate on upcoming events, discuss new technologies, and share tips and tricks for better radio operation.

The club also provides practical services, such as entry-level license classes, general or higher license classes, and license test sessions, making it a great starting point for anyone looking to get licensed in amateur radio. The club’s mentorship program ensures that newcomers have the support they need as they begin their journey into the world of amateur radio.

A Focus on Public Service

In addition to their technical skills, the Mustang Amateur Radio Club is deeply committed to giving back to the community. The club actively participates in public service and emergency communications, providing support during crises and contributing to local disaster response efforts. The ability to quickly set up reliable communication in emergency situations is one of the key benefits of amateur radio, and MARC members are well-trained and prepared to step up when needed.

Leadership and Growth

The club’s leadership team is led by President Cameron A. Dobie (KJ5XB), who is passionate about growing the club’s presence and expanding its role in the local community. Alongside him, Thomas R. Tucker (KI5MNC) serves as the primary contact for the club, ensuring that all inquiries are addressed promptly. Lisa D. Foreman (K9WLO) rounds out the leadership as the club’s editor, managing the club’s communications and keeping members informed about upcoming events and important updates.
