Nestled in the heart of East Texas, the Longview East Texas Amateur Radio Club (LETARC) serves as a beacon for radio enthusiasts seeking fellowship, technical knowledge, and community service. Since its founding in 1988, LETARC has fostered a vibrant community of operators who share a passion for amateur radio and public service.


A Gathering of Minds

LETARC holds its monthly meetings on the fourth Saturday at 9:00 AM at the LFD Training Academy, 411 American Legion Blvd, Longview, TX. These meetings offer a space for members to discuss innovations, troubleshoot technical challenges, and organize activities that benefit the broader community.


A Club with a Purpose

LETARC is a General Interest club that thrives on variety, encompassing:

  • Public Service/Emergency Communications: Supporting local safety efforts with reliable communication networks.
  • VHF/UHF and Repeaters: Maintaining essential tools for both hobbyists and emergency operators.
  • License Testing: Assisting aspiring operators in achieving their amateur radio licenses.

Leadership with Vision

Under the stewardship of Bert E. Sharp (KJ5W), the club’s President, LETARC continues to grow and innovate. Supporting the leadership team are:
