Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club: A Community Staple for Amateur Radio Enthusiasts

With a history dating back to 1966, the Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club (LIMARC) has grown into a cornerstone of the amateur radio community in the Northern Long Island region. Known by its call sign W2VL, LIMARC meets monthly at Levittown Hall and brings together a vast membership of 360 individuals, including 275 ARRL members.

LIMARC offers a wide range of resources and activities, from entry-level and advanced license classes to license test sessions and on-the-air bulletins. The club’s specialties encompass contests, public service communications, and emergency response, supported by its dedicated repeaters and a Packet Radio BBS. LIMARC further extends its community engagement through educational outreach, partnering with schools and youth groups to inspire the next generation of amateur radio operators.

The club's regular activities include its well-known hamfests, a vibrant newsletter, and a Tvi/RFI Committee to support technical needs. With a team of dedicated officers, including President Richard E. Cetron (K2KNB), Secretary Kenneth S. Gunther (WB2KWC), and Treasurer and Editor Jerald Abrams (WB2ZEX), LIMARC maintains a strong organizational structure that keeps it at the forefront of amateur radio on Long Island.
