K5M – Marsh Island, NA-120

K5M – Marsh Island, NA-120

The team consisting of Dragan (K0AP), Mike (AD5A), and Mike (AB5EB) has successfully activated Marsh Island (NA-120) as K5M. They arrived on the island at 1645z, and their operations are currently active. The team is using a combination of verticals and possibly a Buddihex antenna, which was used successfully in previous expeditions, such as CB0ZA.

Earlier updates indicated a delay due to bad weather, which shifted their plans. Initially, the team had hoped to operate from NA-119 (Dernieres), but due to weather conditions, they shifted their focus to NA-120.

Operations:

  • Dates: October 4-8, 2024
  • Bands: Primarily on HF with a dedicated 6m station, hoping for E-skip openings despite October not being ideal for 6m.
  • Antennas: Vertical and possibly a Buddihex.
