Club Activities
The Hancock ARC is very active in the amateur radio community, organizing and participating in several key events and activities:
- ARRL Field Day: Held every June, members come together to participate in this annual exercise, showcasing emergency communication capabilities and honing their skills.
- Training Programs and License Exams: The club regularly conducts training sessions and organizes exam sessions for those aspiring to obtain or upgrade their amateur radio licenses.
- ARES Nets: Weekly ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) nets are held using the club’s repeater systems to maintain readiness for emergency communications.
The club operates two repeater systems, one on 2 meters and another on 70 centimeters, both of which are identified by the W9ATG call sign. These repeaters are used for hobby purposes, local emergency communication support, and weekly ARES nets.
