Bellevue Amateur Radio Club Inc.: A Hub for Nebraska’s Radio Enthusiasts

With over 50 years of dedication to the amateur radio community, the Bellevue Amateur Radio Club (BARC), call sign W0WYV, remains a vital institution in Nebraska, fostering a passion for radio technology and public service. Since its inception in 1971, BARC has brought together amateurs of all levels, offering them a space to develop their skills, connect with like-minded individuals, and serve the greater Bellevue area.

BARC meets on the third Thursday of every month at the Masonic Lodge on Franklin Street, a welcoming environment where members can share knowledge, exchange ideas, and delve into various aspects of amateur radio. The club’s core activities cover a wide range of interests, from DX and contesting to digital modes and VHF/UHF communications. BARC’s commitment to public service is evident in its role as a communication asset during emergencies, as well as in its support for community events.

Under the leadership of President James E. Westcott (KA0KCV) and an experienced team of officers, BARC actively supports newcomers to amateur radio. The club offers entry-level and advanced license classes, regular license testing sessions, and personalized mentorship. With 75 dedicated members, including 45 ARRL affiliates, BARC is a powerhouse of amateur radio expertise, focused on promoting the hobby and empowering the next generation of operators.

BARC also hosts a Hamfest, a major annual event that brings together radio enthusiasts from across the region. The event highlights the camaraderie of the amateur radio community and provides an opportunity to explore new technologies, participate in radio contests, and share in the collective enthusiasm for the art of radio.

For those interested in joining a community-driven club that balances technical pursuit with public service, the Bellevue Amateur Radio Club offers a dynamic and supportive environment. For more information, visit bellevuearc.org or contact Tom C. Huber (WD0BFO) at info@bellevuearc.org.
