The 3D2Y DXpedition team is actively setting up operations from the remote island of Rotuma. With two RiB (Radio in a Box) systems and two local stations already on the air, the team is making steady progress toward full operational capacity.

November 15, 2024:
The team arrived in Rotuma early in the morning, participated in a traditional Mamassa ceremony, and began setting up their equipment. By the afternoon, they were on-air, generating their first pile-ups on 15m and 12m. -
November 17, 2024:
Antennas for 80m and 6m bands are scheduled for installation. Vertical dipoles covering 20m to 10m are already operational along the beachfront. The team plans to utilize the towering palm trees around their QTH to improve antenna efficiency for the lower bands.

Power Supply:
Commercial power is provided by a district-wide generator, which results in a daily downtime of one hour (13:00–14:00 local time, 01:00 UTC). During this maintenance window, the team focuses on updates, repairs, and log uploads. -
Local Weather:
Rotuma's hot and humid climate presents challenges for midday operations, though the team is adapting well.
Current Bands & Modes:
- Operating with vertical dipoles on 20m to 10m.
- Plans to activate 160m to 30m and 6m soon.
- Modes include CW, FT8, and SSB.
