XV9X – Phu Quoc Island, AS-128 DXpedition

Juris, YL2GM, reports that the team has installed a Spiderbeam and an 80m antenna at their QTH on Phu Quoc Island. Although a large mountain blocks signals toward Europe, the path to Japan and the USA remains clear.

Key updates include:

  • Journey and Schedule: On November 16, Juris, along with XYL Zigrida, Eugene (EA5EL) and his wife, began their journey to Vietnam, meeting at Istanbul airport. The XV9X DXpedition from Phu Quoc Island (IOTA: AS-128) is scheduled to begin on November 19 and run through December 2, 2024.
  • Operating Bands & Modes: The team will be active on bands from 160 to 6 meters, operating in CW, SSB, and FT8.
  • Antenna Setup: Their rig includes a Spiderbeam, various vertical antennas, an EFHW, and a 5-element yagi for 6m.
  • QSL Information: QSLs will be processed via YL2GN.
