Established on November 9th, 2003, the West Desert Amateur Radio Club has been a pivotal organization for over two decades, dedicated to fostering a strong community of amateur radio operators in Tooele County. With a robust membership of 102 individuals, including 55 licensed amateurs and 24 ARRL members, our club is committed to education, public service, and the advancement of radio technology.

Our Mission and Specialties

As an ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) club sponsored by Tooele County Emergency Management, West Desert Arc plays a crucial role in emergency communications and public service. Our areas of expertise include:

  • General Interest: Engage in a wide array of radio activities, from casual conversations to technical discussions.
  • Public Service/Emergency Communications: Prepare to support local government agencies during emergencies with reliable communication networks.
  • Repeaters, VHF/UHF: Operate and maintain repeater systems to extend the reach of your radio signals, ensuring effective communication across vast distances.

What We Offer

The West Desert Amateur Radio Club is dedicated to providing a variety of services and opportunities for both new and experienced radio operators:

  • Entry-Level License Classes: Newcomers can receive comprehensive training and support to obtain their amateur radio licenses.

Join Us at Our Monthly Meetings

We gather every first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM, except in July and August, at the Tooele County Emergency Management Office, located at 15 East 100 South, Tooele, UT 84074. Our meetings are an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts, share knowledge, and engage in hands-on activities. Whether you're looking to expand your technical skills, contribute to public service, or simply enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded individuals, our doors are open to you.
