Club Description: The W6TRW Amateur Radio Club began in the '60s as the TRW ARC with the call sign WB6WPO. It became affiliated with ARRL in 1971 and changed its call sign to W6TRW in 1974. Initially formed by employees of TRW in Redondo Beach, California, the club now boasts a range of activities and facilities:

  • Club Station: Located in Redondo Beach, equipped with two Yaesu FT-1000s, an Alpha 87a amplifier, and multiple HF antennas. It supports all-mode capability on 6m, 2m, 440 MHz, and 1.2 GHz. It also features ATV, satellite, and packet stations, along with a fully equipped emergency communications truck.
  • Repeaters: Open repeaters on 2 meters and 440 MHz serving the Los Angeles basin.
  • Swap Meet: Hosts the largest monthly amateur radio swap meet in the Los Angeles area, held the last Saturday of each month from 7 AM to 11:30 AM.

Club Activities:

  • Monthly Swap Meet: Known throughout the western US and beyond, offering a wide range of radio equipment and related items.
  • Radio Events: Includes contest operating, public service events, picnics, and classes for new licensees.
  • Educational Programs: Provides entry-level license classes and mentorship to new and aspiring amateur radio operators.
