VU7T – Laccadive Islands DXpedition (May 22–28, 2025)

VU7T – Laccadive Islands DXpedition (May 22–28, 2025)

📍 Location: Lakshadweep (VU7), India – IOTA AS-011

📅 Dates: May 22–28, 2025

🎙️ Callsign: VU7T

🏝️ Event: Participation in CQ WPX CW Contest 2025

📢 Early Reminder for CW Fans & IOTA Hunters!

The VU7T team has officially received permission to operate from the Laccadive Islands in May 2025, including activity during the CQ WPX CW Contest. This is a rare opportunity to log VU7 – a remote and rarely activated DXCC entity and IOTA reference (AS-011).

📡 Operation Highlights:

  • HF Bands: All bands covered

  • Modes: Focus on CW for WPX; others likely depending on conditions and setup

  • Antennas: Simple verticals, installed close to the beach

  • Satellite: First-time QO-100 activation from VU7

  • Stations: 2 HF stations (pending travel and baggage logistics)

This activation is intentionally low-key due to late confirmation of permits, but the operators are dedicated and seasoned, ready to make the most of the short window.

🧑🚀 Operator Team:

  • VU2JXN – Ram

  • VU3HPF – Gopan (M0XUU)

  • VU3FFB – Fahad (local Laccadive resident!)

  • VU2TT – San (A45TT)

  • VU2YYF – Sid

  • VU2CPL – Manoj (Pilot station support)

🔄 Including Fahad, VU3FFB, a resident of the islands, marks a positive step toward encouraging future local activations — a great boost for IOTA chasers and DXers alike.

❓ FAQs

  • Will there be 6m activity?
Not confirmed, but one comment (US5WE) asked — keep an ear on the cluster just in case.

  • Will they be on QO-100?
Yes! This will be the first-ever satellite operation from VU7 via QO-100 — a real treat for satellite ops.

🌊 Why You Shouldn't Miss It:

VU7 (Lakshadweep Islands) is not frequently activated, and CW operators especially will want to mark their calendars for the WPX CW Contest weekend. Plus, with QO-100 being added to the mix, this is shaping up to be a unique and historic activation.

📶 Get ready to work VU7T May 22–28, 2025 – whether you're after a rare DXCC, a new IOTA, or a satellite contact, this one's worth chasing.

📝 More updates on equipment, frequencies, and logs will be posted as the date nears.
