VHAM is designed to provide simple, wide-area Push-to-Talk communication for users around the world.
Because VHAM groups can connect people across different regions, countries, and communities, every user has a responsibility to use the platform legally, respectfully, and safely.
This Acceptable Use Policy explains the basic rules that apply when using VHAM-enabled Talkpod devices and services.
Acceptance of This Policy
When you receive a Talkpod device that uses the VHAM platform, you should review this Acceptable Use Policy before activating the device.
If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, you should not activate or begin using the VHAM service and should follow the applicable return procedure for your purchase.
By powering on the device, connecting it to the network, and accessing the VHAM platform, you agree to:
-
Follow this Acceptable Use Policy.
-
Comply with applicable laws and regulations.
-
Follow reasonable platform rules and future policy updates.
-
Communicate responsibly in VHAM default groups and Public Groups.
Organizations using VHAM are responsible for ensuring that their users and devices are operated in accordance with these requirements.
1. Global Service and Local Compliance
VHAM provides cellular-based Push-to-Talk communication across supported regions and networks.
Unlike conventional VHF or UHF two-way radios, VHAM communications are delivered through cellular data networks and internet-based services.
Availability therefore depends on factors such as:
-
Local cellular coverage
-
Carrier compatibility
-
Internet connectivity
-
SIM service availability
-
International roaming support
-
Local telecommunications regulations
Your Responsibility as a User
Before purchasing or using a VHAM-enabled device, users are responsible for determining whether the service may legally be used in their country or region.
Local laws and telecommunications requirements may vary.
You should comply with all applicable:
-
National laws
-
Local regulations
-
Telecommunications requirements
-
Cellular-network rules
-
Privacy and communications laws
If local law conflicts with a requirement of this policy, stop using the affected service and contact Talkpod Support for assistance at:
VHAM should always be used within a lawful and compliant framework.
2. Prohibited Activities
To protect the VHAM community and maintain a reliable communication environment, users must not use VHAM to conduct, promote, facilitate, or support unlawful, dangerous, abusive, or disruptive activities.
Illegal or Dangerous Activities
VHAM must not be used to organize, conduct, or promote activities that violate applicable law.
Examples may include activities involving:
-
Illegal trafficking
-
Violence
-
Terrorism
-
Other unlawful conduct
False Emergency Calls and Public-Safety Interference
Users must not intentionally transmit false emergency or distress messages.
Examples include:
-
False "Mayday" calls
-
Fake disaster warnings
-
False emergency reports
-
Deliberate attempts to interfere with emergency communications
VHAM must also not be used to obstruct or interfere with legitimate communications involving police, fire, emergency medical services, or other public-safety organizations.
VHAM is not a replacement for official emergency services such as 911, 112, or other local emergency numbers.
Harassment, Threats, and Hate Speech
Users must not use VHAM Public Groups to transmit content that is threatening, abusive, defamatory, intimidating, or unlawfully discriminatory.
This includes hate speech or targeted harassment based on characteristics such as:
-
Race
-
Religion
-
National origin
-
Sexual orientation
-
Other characteristics protected under applicable law
Users are expected to communicate respectfully when participating in shared or public groups.
Malicious Channel Disruption
Users must not intentionally prevent others from using VHAM communication channels normally.
Prohibited behavior includes:
-
Continuously holding the PTT button to block other users
-
Deliberately occupying a group without legitimate communication
-
Repeatedly transmitting disruptive sounds
-
Broadcasting loud screeching or intentionally disturbing audio
-
Playing meaningless recordings for the purpose of disrupting a group
In traditional radio terminology, this type of behavior may sometimes be described as dead-keying or deliberate channel interference.
Unauthorized Technical Access
Users must not attempt to gain unauthorized access to VHAM services or interfere with the operation of the platform.
This includes the unauthorized use of:
-
Automated bots
-
Scripts
-
Modified clients
-
Reverse-engineering techniques
-
Network exploitation tools
-
Other methods intended to bypass normal VHAM access controls
Testing, research, or integration activity should only be conducted with appropriate authorization.
3. Using VHAM Public Groups
VHAM allows users to join certain Public Groups through numeric Group IDs.
It is important to understand that communications in these groups should be treated as public communications.
When participating in a Public Group:
-
Other users may be able to hear your transmissions.
-
Users may come from different countries and backgrounds.
-
You should not assume that conversations are private.
-
Sensitive or confidential information should not be transmitted.
Talkpod does not endorse every statement made by users in Public Groups and cannot guarantee that all user-generated communications will be appropriate or accurate.
If you encounter serious abuse or prohibited activity, you can report it to Talkpod for review.
4. VHAM Is Not a Mission-Critical Emergency Service
VHAM relies on third-party infrastructure, including cellular carriers and internet connectivity.
Service availability may be affected by:
-
Weak or unavailable cellular coverage
-
Carrier outages
-
Internet disruptions
-
Network congestion
-
International roaming limitations
-
Power failures
-
Natural disasters
-
Scheduled maintenance
-
Unplanned service interruptions
Because of these dependencies, VHAM is not designed or certified as a mission-critical or life-saving communications system.
It should not be used as the sole communication method for situations where a communication failure could result in serious injury, loss of life, or major property damage.
VHAM should also not be considered a replacement for:
-
911 or 112 emergency services
-
Public-safety dispatch networks
-
Certified mission-critical communication systems
-
Required emergency communication equipment
-
Other legally mandated safety systems
Organizations operating in safety-critical environments should maintain appropriate backup communication methods.
5. Policy Enforcement
Talkpod may investigate activity that appears to violate this Acceptable Use Policy.
Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, actions may include:
-
Warning the affected user
-
Temporarily suspending VHAM access
-
Restricting a device or service
-
Suspending an associated IMEI
-
Suspending or disabling a SIM/ICCID
-
Permanently terminating access to VHAM services
Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent service termination.
Where permitted by applicable law and the relevant purchase or service terms, violations may also affect eligibility for refunds related to service subscriptions or other associated services.
Cooperation with Law Enforcement
Talkpod may respond to valid legal requests from law-enforcement agencies, courts, regulators, or other authorized government authorities.
Where required by applicable law, Talkpod may provide relevant information associated with investigations involving serious threats, unlawful activity, or risks to public safety.
Any such response will be handled in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
6. How to Report Abuse
We want VHAM to remain a useful and respectful communication environment.
If you encounter serious violations such as:
-
Deliberate channel disruption
-
Threats
-
Illegal activity
-
False emergency transmissions
-
Repeated harassment
-
Other serious violations of this policy
please record as much information as reasonably possible.

The Talkpod team can review the available information and take appropriate action where necessary.
Responsible Communication Starts with Every User
VHAM is designed to bring together radio enthusiasts, teams, communities, and users across different locations.
A useful global communication network depends on everyone using it responsibly.
In simple terms:
Follow Local Laws → Respect Other Users → Do Not Disrupt Groups → Do Not Misuse Emergency Communications → Report Serious Abuse
By following these principles, every user can help maintain a safer and more useful VHAM community.
