Meedhuizen, Netherlands — The VERON Afdeling Eemsmond (A30), covering the 19th region, is a dedicated community of approximately 40 radio amateurs primarily residing in the Eemsmond area of Groningen province. Founded in 1979 by a group of enthusiastic operators, the chapter aims to promote radio amateurism in its broadest sense.
Regular Gatherings and Activities
VERON A30 holds its monthly meetings on the second Friday evening of the month, from 8:00 PM, at Café Lanting in Meedhuizen. Please note that there are no meetings in June, July, and August.
These evenings offer a rich array of activities:
- Lectures and Presentations: Featuring both invited speakers and presentations by members themselves, covering various topics within the hobby.
- Club Station Operations: Members have the opportunity to operate the club station, PI4EMS, on HF, 2 meters (VHF), and 70 centimeters (UHF).
- Experimentation and Self-Building: A chance for members to engage in hands-on projects and explore new techniques.
- QSL Card Service: Facilitating the exchange of contact confirmation cards.
- Experience Exchange: A platform for members to share knowledge and insights.
- Socializing: Simply enjoying a pleasant chat about the hobby.
Chapter History
The journey of Afdeling Eemsmond began on April 13, 1979, with its first members' meeting held at the Radiomodel Vliegclub Eemsmond in Delfzijl. Twenty-five aspiring members and interested individuals attended this inaugural gathering, with the clear goal of establishing the Eemsmond chapter under the VERON banner.
The official approval for the chapter's establishment came swiftly from the VERON Verenigingsraad (Association Council) on April 21, 1979, during its general members' meeting, solidifying Afdeling Eemsmond as a recognized VERON chapter.
