TX9A Austral Islands DXpedition Update - April 2025

Current Status:

  • Successfully activated since April 25 with 4,500+ QSOs logged in first 22 hours

  • Operating despite challenging weather conditions (heavy rain/wind delaying some antenna setups)

  • Currently active on 10m/15m/40m CW with strong signals reported

Technical Setup:

  • Operational antennas: Hexbeam, 3-el DK7ZB yagi, 40m GP

  • Under construction: 60m/30m GP, 2-el Moxon, 6m yagi

  • Planned: 160m/80m GP (acknowledged as suboptimal for season)

  • Equipment: ACOM 1200S & 500S amplifiers, 4O3A HP bandpass filters

Team Details:

  • International team led by Croatian operators (9A2NA, 9A3MR, etc.)

  • Sponsored by ACOM Bulgaria and supported by non-ham volunteers

  • QSL via DK8ZZ (direct/LoTW)

Key Challenges:

  • Late season operation limiting 80m/160m potential

  • Weather delays in antenna deployment

  • Remote location requiring complex logistics
