The Spartanburg Amateur Radio Club Inc (SPARC), call sign K4II, has been a cornerstone of the amateur radio community since its inception in 1952. Founded by Fritz Nitsch (W4NTO), SPARC has consistently focused on helping new hams, providing communications support for community events, and playing a vital role in emergency communications. With the passing of Fritz in 2021, his legacy continues through a permanent clubhouse and a dedicated network of repeaters, ensuring the club’s future for years to come.


Key Features of SPARC

  1. Meeting Schedule:
    SPARC holds regular meetings every Tuesday night at 7:00 PM at their clubhouse, located at 400 Glennwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The clubhouse serves as a central hub for members to engage in activities, share knowledge, and participate in events.

  2. Club Legacy & Community Support:
    SPARC's rich history of community service has been central to its mission. The club offers vital emergency communications and supports local events with amateur radio services. They also maintain three repeaters and an emergency operating trailer to be used in times of need.

  3. Education and Mentorship:
    Continuing Fritz's legacy, SPARC is dedicated to helping newcomers. They provide License Test Sessions and offer mentorship to assist with licensing and other aspects of amateur radio.

  4. Special Events:
    SPARC remains active in public service, including participation in local community events and emergency preparedness efforts.
