Repost: D44TWO & D44ZZI – Cape Verde DXpedition

Warren and Harald will be operating “Holiday Style” from Ponta Achada, Paraia Baixo, Cape Verde throughout May 2025. After forming a friendship based on a mutual interest in Africa, Harald (an Africa DX veteran) invited Warren (a passionate new DXer and contester) to join him in Cape Verde to "learn the ropes" of running an African DX station.

Harald will operate his reliable FT-991A focusing on CW and FT4, while Warren will use his FTdx10 to operate SSB and FT8. The team will also take advantage of QO-100 satellite opportunities as they arise. Their antenna setup includes a BuddiHex covering 20, 17, 15, 12, and 10 meters, verticals for 160, 80, 60, 40, and 30 meters, plus a home-built 4-element 6-meter yagi. All antennas will be rooftop-mounted at approximately 10 meters above ground level on the South East coast of Santiago Island, close to the Atlantic.

As an update from February 23, Harald, DF2WO, will be active from Praia, Santiago Island (AF-005) as D44TWO during May 4–26, 2025, operating on HF bands and 6m using FT8 and CW. He will be joined by Warren, KN6ZZI, who will sign as D44ZZI.
