Remscheid Radio Club Honors City's Scientific Legacy Through Amateur Radio

Remscheid, Germany — In the birthplace of Nobel laureate Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, the DARC Ortsverband Remscheid (R13) keeps the spirit of discovery alive through amateur radio. Their club station DL0XR proudly bears the special callsign suffix "XRAY"—a permanent tribute to the inventor of X-ray technology.

Where Science Meets Radio

Every first Wednesday at 18:30, members gather at Melli's-Borner Sport-Treff (Bornbacher Str. 11) to:

  • Operate the historic DL0XR station

  • Prepare for international radio contests

  • Train newcomers on Remscheid's 438.3375 MHz repeater (DO0LP)

Special Features

🔹 XRAY Diplom: Award for contacting DL0XR
🔹 Scenic Operations: Often active near the Panzertal Reservoir
🔹 EMV Expertise: Help with electromagnetic interference issues

"Just like Röntgen revealed the invisible, we explore unseen radio waves connecting continents," says chairman Markus Lanzrath (DA1AM).
