Welcome to the Ortsverband Völklingen (Q05) – a key player in the Saarland amateur radio scene, active since its establishment. With a rich history and continuous engagement in local and international radio activities, the Q05 club offers a vibrant community for amateur radio enthusiasts.
Key Features & Activities:

OV-Abende (Regular Meetings): Held every Friday at 7 PM, the meetings occur either at the club grounds or at the nearby “Zum Wasserturm” restaurant depending on weather and season. Located in Völklingen, the meetings foster an environment for learning and camaraderie.

Club Stations: The club operates DAØVN and DLØVS, with Bert (DF8VO) and DL8RB overseeing these stations.

QSL-Karten: A dedicated QSL exchange is held on the first Friday of every month from 7 PM.
Recent Highlights and Upcoming Events:

HAM-Radio 2024: The members of Q05 enjoyed a productive visit to the international HAM Radio Messe in Friedrichshafen, making new connections, attending contests, and celebrating achievements with awards for Siggi, DK2YL, and Mike, DF3VM.

CW Fieldday (June 2024): Despite short preparation time, the Q05 team participated in the CW Fieldday with impressive results, achieving 700 QSOs. Plans are already underway for more events in the future, including the SSB Fieldday.

2024 Membership Meeting: In March 2024, Q05's annual membership meeting was held, with reports on finances, membership growth, and contest success. Four new members joined the club, with three under 50 years, ensuring a bright future for the club.

DB0VKN Relay Update: In response to interference issues with DB0VKN, it has been decided to relocate the relay to 438.450 MHz, ensuring clearer operation. This change is expected to eliminate previous reception issues.

QSL and New Projects: Q05 introduced the “Weltkulturerbe Völklinger Hütte” diploma, available through the DARC DCL. Additionally, the club’s geostationary satellite communication project is now part of the ZukunftAward Völklingen, showcasing the potential of Amateur Radio in educational and emergency communications.

Club's Traditional Events: Q05 maintains a tradition of fun and educational community activities, such as their “Abgrillen” event on October 3rd, where over 80 participants gathered for food, conversation, and camaraderie.
